What is Take Profit?

An automated order that sells your position when the price rises to a specified profit target, guaranteeing you capture gains at your desired level.

Take profit is an automated sell order that executes when your position reaches a specified profit percentage. It guarantees you lock in gains at your target level rather than risking a reversal.

How Take Profit Works

  • You buy a token at a certain price
  • You set a take profit percentage (e.g., +50%)
  • When the price rises 50% above your entry, the system automatically sells
  • Your profit is locked in at your target

Example

  • Entry price: $1.00
  • Take profit: +100% (double)
  • Trigger price: $2.00
  • When the token hits $2.00, it's sold automatically for a 100% gain

When to Use Take Profit

  • Known catalysts — If you expect a specific price target (e.g., token launch, listing)
  • Quick flips — For short-term trades where you want to capture a fast gain
  • Disciplined exits — Removes the "should I hold longer?" decision

Take Profit vs. Trailing Stop

Take profit exits at a fixed target. Trailing stop lets profits run further but may exit at a lower level if there's a pullback. Many traders use both:

  • Trailing stop catches the upside if the price runs past your target
  • Take profit guarantees you don't miss your target if the price reverses quickly
