What is Gas Fees (Transaction Fees)?

Small fees paid to the Solana network to process and confirm your transactions on the blockchain.

Gas fees (called transaction fees on Solana) are small payments made to validators who process your transactions. On Solana, these fees are extremely low compared to other blockchains.

Solana Fee Structure

Base Transaction Fee

  • Typically 0.000005 SOL per transaction (about $0.001)
  • Paid on every transaction regardless of size

Priority Fee

  • Optional additional fee for faster confirmation
  • Usually 0.0001-0.001 SOL
  • Recommended during high network congestion

Account Rent

  • ~0.002 SOL when receiving a token for the first time
  • This is a one-time rent-exempt deposit that can be reclaimed when you close the account

Why Solana Fees Are Low

Solana's architecture processes thousands of transactions per second, keeping fees minimal. This is a major advantage for copy trading — on Ethereum, a single swap might cost $20-50 in gas. On Solana, it costs fractions of a cent.

When copy trading, you'll pay:

  • Solana transaction fee (~0.000005 SOL)
  • Optional priority fee (you configure this)
  • 1% swap fee via Jupiter referral (SOL Wallet Shadow's fee)

Always keep a small SOL balance for transaction fees. 0.05 SOL is more than enough for hundreds of transactions.
