How Whale Discovery Works - Finding Profitable Solana Wallets
Understand how SOL Wallet Shadow's whale discovery engine finds and ranks the most profitable Solana trader wallets using live on-chain data from Solscan.
How Discovery Works
SOL Wallet Shadow's whale discovery engine uses a multi-step process to find profitable traders:
Step 1: Scan Trending Tokens
The engine connects to the Solscan Pro API and pulls a list of currently trending Solana tokens. These are tokens with high trading volume and activity — where the action is happening right now.
Step 2: Analyze Active Traders
For each trending token, we look at recent swap transactions to identify the wallets making trades. This gives us a pool of actively trading wallets to analyze.
Step 3: Calculate Performance Metrics
For each discovered wallet, we analyze their complete DeFi swap history to calculate:
- •Win Rate — Percentage of trades that were profitable
- •Average Profit — Mean return per trade in SOL
- •Total Trades — How many DeFi swaps they've made
- •Recent Activity — Tokens they've traded recently
Step 4: Filter and Rank
You can set minimum thresholds for win rate, trade count, and other metrics. Only wallets that meet your criteria are shown. Results are ranked by overall performance.
Discovery Filters
Fine-tune your discovery with these filters:
- •Minimum Win Rate — Only show wallets above a certain win percentage (e.g., 60%)
- •Minimum Trades — Filter out wallets with too few trades to be statistically meaningful
- •Token Filters — Focus on specific token categories or exclude certain tokens
How Often to Discover
The whale landscape changes constantly. We recommend running discovery regularly to find new profitable wallets. The whales from last week might not be the best performers this week.
Tips for Finding Good Whales
- •Look for consistency — A 70% win rate over 100 trades is more reliable than 90% over 10 trades
- •Check recent activity — Make sure the wallet is still actively trading
- •Diversify your shadow list — Don't put all your capital behind one whale
- •Start small — Test with small amounts before committing more capital to a whale
